Do you believe there is room for faith in business or business in faith?
Business has no place in faith.
In order to share their message, churches have to provide a venue, advertise their existence and encourage people to join. Explain to me how that is different than any business! Church organizations need to treat their church as a business.
Faith based organizations are in the business of providing places to gather and share in the celebration of the various faiths. Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, etc. If they don’t treat their organization as a business, they will soon have to shut their doors. So, absolutely, there is a place for business in faith.
Faith has no place in business.
See answer above!
Listen to any motivational speaker and you will hear a faith based undertone. This is evidenced by comments like “Thank God for…”, or “The Universe will…” and so on. Regardless of whether or not the reference is to a particular religion, they are all comments referencing faith. Even Atheism is a faith if you really look at it. Atheists believe in self. That’s a faith although, they will deny it!
When you look at most great leaders, they are driven by some kind of faith.
- Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. John F. Kennedy
- Before the throne of the Almighty, man will be judged not by his acts but by his intentions. For God alone reads our hearts. Mahatma Gandhi
- We are never defeated unless we give up on God. Ronald Reagan
We all have some kind of faith, whether in a supreme being or in the self, it’s a faith that underlies every action we make.
What place does faith have in business?
Jim Amos wrote a great piece about the place for faith in business. He makes the comment that faith is central to who we are. I agree. Click here for more.
As we travel through this journey called life, we will face many decisions. It’s at these times we typically draw on faith to decide which way to turn. See below this blog for a great video on Pivot Points!
When business decisions are driven by logic with a foundation built on faith, it’s much more likely that our clients will trust what we are telling them. I don’t believe in being a “bible thumper” yet, I also don’t think it’s honest to hide your faith. If I were to find out you were hiding your faith, what else are you hiding. Celebrate your faith and use it to help stay committed to your mission.
Make it a great day!
