When you live every moment, once is enough!
I haven’t watched this movie in years. It’s funny how all of a sudden, you see something differently after having some life experience. I must have seen this movie at least six times and never noticed the song Once Is Enough before last night. Pappy says “You only have one life to live. Life can be rough. But, if you live it every day, all of the way, once is enough!”.
Who would have thought that a comedy produced almost 50 years ago that was really meant to showcase Elvis’ music would actually have value as a great life lesson?
once is enough
How often do you hear someone say I wish I could do it all over again? They will often follow that with a reference to their teens or young adult years. I had a lot of fun back then but once is enough!
There have been challenges throughout my life. I’m no different than anyone else. Ideally, I learn from each obstacle that I face and take every new lesson and move forward. I try not to repeat those that are caused by my own bad decisions or mistakes. Once is enough!
Learn and grow.
Each challenge I have faced has lead to discovering new strengths and growing into the person I am today. My hope is that when I come across someone struggling through a challenge that I can let them lean on me for a bit and help them through just as others did for me.
Embrace each obstacle as you come across them. Find the lesson that is unique to you and figure out how to apply this learned knowledge in your life. The application may not be evident immediately, it could be years. Trust that your experiences will lead you to someone, somewhere, that is going to need you. The pain becomes bearable when you trust there is a reason. The rewards are exquisite when you finally are able to be that person providing support in a time of need.
Without your personal experience and lesson, you wouldn’t have been prepared. This is a matter of faith. Do you have enough faith in yourself to trust that your experiences are leading you somewhere special?
Once is enough but we all need experience to guide us.
Make it a great day,
P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful for my faith. I’m thankful for hope. I’m thankful for those who have faith in me.
What are you thankful for today?
