Luck, that’s why they’re so successful! Is it really?

Luck has nothing to do with it.

four leaf cloverHow often do you hear someone say “I wish I had her luck”?  Put yourself in the position of the person you think has all the luck for a minute.  You spent years studying your specialty, whether it’s a hobby or a business.  You may well have failed at many attempts along the way.  Eventually, you figured out whatever it was that wasn’t working and made the changes required to “change your luck”.

Luck had nothing to do with it.  Perseverance, determination and a lot of hard work are what brought you to your success.  You resent when you hear people say “I wish I had her luck”!

What are you willing to do?

People who are successful may have some natural talent but their success comes because they are willing to do that little bit more than others will do.  (You should read Jeff Olson’s book “The Slight Edge”.)

To achieve success, are you willing to:

  • Read 10 pages of a good book every day?
  • Get up an hour earlier?
  • Take appropriate courses?
  • Find a mentor and ask for help?

What are you willing to do to create your own luck?

Was it luck?

SuccessAnthony (or Tony) Robbins is very wealthy and successful.  He must have a lot of luck!  No, he went from being broke to being very successful.

In The Slight Edge, Jeff Olson tells the story of being a beach bum who finally decided one day to make some changes that lead to great financial success.

According to Forbes, almost two thirds of the world’s billionaires made their fortunes from scratch.  I suspect that if you talk to them, they will tell you it had absolutely nothing to do with luck!

Here is what luck really boils down to.  Luck is the result of whatever you are willing to do.  Theft and dishonesty eventually leads to jail.  Is that bad luck?  Determination, education and hard work will lead to success.  Is that good luck?

Make your luck great!

Find your passion.  Take that passion and point it towards a goal.  Work with a mentor to develop the skills that, when combined with your determination and passion, will lead to great success.  And then, make your luck great.

See you at the top!

Make it a great day,

Barry

P.S.  What am I thankful for today?  I’m thankful people like Tony Robbins and Jeff Olson are willing to share their stories.  I’m thankful for failure (it leads to success).  I’m thankful for opportunity.

What are you thankful for today?

Faith. What does that have to do with business?

Faith has everything to do with everything!

Faith and our first steps.

When we are children, we start out crawling.  We do this on our own and don’t need anything more from anywhere else.  Then we reach the stage when we are trying to take our first steps.  Most fall and lose a little confidence on the first try.

If we’re lucky our parents will set us up for another attempt.  They will provide encouraging words and the reality is that we likely don’t understand the words but we do understand the tone.  Based on that, we extend our faith that our parents won’t let us hurt ourselves and we try again.

By the way parents, don’t ever forget that your children are relying on you to help them with their faith in themselves.  I highly recommend reading “Secrets of The Millionaire Mind” by T. Harve Eker.  He really expands on the concept of the effect our parents and loved ones can have on our confidence and faith.

Faith is attractive!

Think about people who have approached you over the years.

There are so many things to consider in our life time.  How do you decide?  When someone approaches you about a product, can you tell if they have faith in their own product?  I’ll bet most do.

There is usually more than one provider of similar products.  Are you likely to choose the person who seems tentative or will you choose the person who’s faith in their offering seems to attract you like a magnet?  What is the driver behind this decision?  Faith!

Our “sixth sense” is often the most accurate.  We hear our rational mind then our sixth sense.  Then we take action based on faith because there is usually no proof!  We all know that what works for someone else won’t necessarily work for us.

Believe in yourself!

This is where faith has everything to do with your business.  Find a product or service you believe in.  Don’t try to push something that you can’t have faith in yourself.  Then, you need to have faith in yourself!  Chances are that you already know more than most people about your particular product or service before you even actually get started.  When you believe it, they will believe it and be drawn to you.

So, what does faith have to do with business?  People have an amazing ability to “smell” fear or hesitation.  Think back to your dating days.  Who was more attractive?  The person with confidence in themselves or the person who had no faith in themselves at all?  I’m going to bet it wasn’t the wall flower!  Until they mature and find their faith.  Now, all of a sudden, people are drawn to them.  Have faith!

In order for people to have faith in you, they need to know why.  Why do you do what you do?  Your faith in yourself and your product or service makes all the difference.

Make it a great day,

Barry
