I’m hearing voices!

Don’t do it!  Go for it!  You’re an idiot for even thinking about it!  What a brilliant idea!

criticismWe live in conflict with ourselves and the world around us every day.  When faced with a challenge, note I don’t use the word “problem”, those voices start to clamor for our attention.  They get really loud when faced with opportunity in particular.

Then, we make the mistake of asking our friends.  Now, their voice of reason kicks in.  Think about this, who are you asking?  The people who have gone against all odds and found great success?  Or, do you ask all those people struggling to find that great opportunity or job that will lead them to a new life?  The latter are usually a group of naysayers who will never be successful and yet, we give them the most credibility.

Next time you are faced with a decision and are seeking advice, think twice about who you choose to listen to.

Your optimistic personality kicks in and starts to tell you that you can do whatever you set your mind to.  Isn’t that insane?  We all impose limits but, are they always real?

Certain limitations can be very real.  If you are diabetic, you won’t be eating candy because you know it will kill you.  Choose to like nuts or another tasty food that will satisfy the desire for a treat.  Ignore the voice that says only candy will do.

T. Harv Eker wrote a wonderful book, The Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind, that talks about how we develop a map in our minds as we grow up based on our experience.  He acknowledges that it’s difficult to draw a new map but it can be done.  It’s a choice.

3D-Women-Wave-03We need to learn to choose which voices to listen to.  Remove toxic people from your life.  They are like the crabs in the bucket.  People who claim to love you can pull you back down.

Many of the toxic people in your life really do love you!  You just need to limit your exposure to them.  It’s like a fine red wine, a glass is good for you, a bottle isn’t!

Maintain positive thoughts by being around the people who will reinforce your goals.  Read good books.  Do you realize that if you read 10 pages a day, you can read 10-15 books a year?  Keep one in the bathroom!

The seeds you allow to germinate in your mind will determine what you reap.

Are you a crab? What will you choose?

Make it a great day,

P.S.  What am I thankful for today?  I’m thankful for great leaders.  I’m thankful for God given choice.  I’m thankful for the opportunity each new day brings.

What are you thankful for today?

Mind tricks. You really can wish things to happen!

What kind of mind tricks do you play?

Mind tricks. Be careful what you think about!

The great Earl Nightingale once said “you become what you think about most often“.

In his recording, The World’s Strangest Secret, Nightingale spends some time on just how fertile our minds are and that whatever we plant will grow well.  Whether we plant food or poison!

Man-CryingHave you ever noticed that when you are worried about anything that you actually start to feel sick?  If it’s for an extended period of time, physical ailments start to manifest themselves.  This is when it’s time to use a mind trick or two.

When you see the poison starting to grow, rip it out and replace it with something good!  For example, you may have been laid off or let go from a position.  Chances are, it hasn’t been good for a while and was already becoming poisonous.  Lack of sleep etc.

What if instead of focusing on the loss, you focused on the new opportunities.  This could be the chance of a lifetime to strike out in a totally new direction.  Now the uneasiness becomes excitement and those little mind tricks lead to you becoming more energized!

Plant the right seeds and feed them.

In order for your mind tricks to work, make sure you are planting the right seeds.

man-cheerful-02Now that you have planted them, be careful what you feed them.  When it comes to your mind, the food comes from your associations.  You may have to cut certain people out of your circle of influence for a while.  If you don’t, the seeds from those weeds and poison will take hold in the fertile fields of your mind and the old mind tricks will take over again.

Remember to be vigilant with your weed and feed program.  Remove the toxic people from your life or, at least minimize your exposure.

Let the mind tricks begin!

Make it a great day,

P.S.  What am I thankful for today?  I’m thankful I’m here to see it.  I’m thankful I can choose how to approach my day.  I’m thankful for the positive people in my life.

What are you thankful for today?
