Is your blog being found? 5 things you can do to attract attention.

You did a great job on your blog. When people read it, they will be thankful for the information. Is your blog being found? There are five things you can do to get the word out.

Blog and Shamelessly Promote

Your blog may be found by accident, but not likely. You need to do a little shameless promotion.

Most of us want others to achieve success for themselves. Your words are important. Whether you spent minutes or hours writing, you did so because you had something to say that you believe can help others. Think about this, if you stand all by yourself and deliver a moving speech in the middle of the forest, will it have any effect? Probably not. You need to invite people to your party!

5 Things You Can Do

  1. Self Host Your Blog
  2. Social Media
  3. Email
  4. Pinging
  5. Public Engagements

Self Hosting

authorityBlogWhen you want people to show up at your party (your blog or website), it works better if it’s easier to find. Think about this, if we met and you couldn’t remember my web site, you would probably search my name. You will likely end up on one of my domains. People tend to be curious and will try to get to the root domain. If you don’t own it, they end up leaving your site and may very well end up buying from someone else. By self hosting your own domain, they will just end up deeper in your territory!

Social Media

You have your own domain but people still aren’t finding you. Did you invite them? This is where social media can really help. Let people get to know, like and trust you. Then invite them to your web site.

Spend some time creating your content and then start marketing your site. Be careful with your messaging, we all have different filters, but make sure you spread the word that you have something of value to offer. I don’t know you are selling something if you don’t tell me. Make use of your auto-responder to get your message out.

I was watching a Smart Marketing Coaching (SMC) webinar and Mark Call told us about where you can ping your blog and let the search engines know you exist. Sure, Google, Yahoo and Bing may find you eventually but use Pingler to “shout it from the rooftop”. This may help speed up the process and increase the likelihood of you showing up higher in the search results.

Public Engagements

Get out in public and do some networking. Join your local chamber of commerce. Get involved in community service. Internet marketing and webinars are a great way to reach out internationally.

Meeting face to face adds another dimension and you develop friends that you can ask to read and share your blogs. This extends your reach even further.

Your success is just a stone’s throw away but you need to take action. Life will start for you when you start it for yourself.

Do you have the stones to succeed?!

Make it a great day,

Why do I need a blog?

Your blog is good for the soul and maybe the pocket book!

Why blog?

  • Organizes your thoughts.
  • Provides clarity.
  • Opens dialogue.
  • Attracts people to your business or organization.

Organize your thoughts

I call this blog site “Thinking Out Loud”.  This is where I share thoughts, ideas and concepts.  For selfish purposes, this allows me to ruminate about a subject and as the blog develops, my thoughts start to become clear and take a form that I hope will start a conversation.  When I blog, I often learn from or about myself in the process and take that into my day.

Be careful when choosing a topic.  In the famous words of Earl Nightingale, “We become what we think about most often”.

Make your blogs positive in nature and your day will follow.  Blog about negativity and your day will likely be just that, negative.

Who do you want following you?  Positive or negative people?

Strangest Secret In The World – Earl Nightingale from Paulie Ciara on Vimeo.

Over a half-century ago, Earl Nightingale complied an audio series, “The Strangest Secret In The World.”

50 years later, this remains one of the most powerful and influential messages ever recorded, and continues to transform the lives of everyone who hears and heeds it.

provides clarity

By the time I reach the end of my blog, the particular topic has become much less confusing to myself.  It’s kind of like talking to a therapist.  Have you ever noticed a therapist doesn’t actually say much but you seem to have talked yourself through an issue and things are so much better when you are done?  In the process, you just may help someone else find clarity for themselves.

opens dialogue

conferencingPosting a blog invites people to either share their thoughts with you or they will take that information and start a dialogue with someone they know.  Whether people agree with your thoughts or not really doesn’t matter.  Use your blog to start the conversation and see where it ends up.  Share your thoughts.  Open your mind to learning from the response.

Attracts people to your business or organization

banner_155Think about your own social media habits.  Who do you follow and why?

My guess is that you saw an interesting picture or read someone’s words that resonated with you.  I’ll bet you periodically check for new posts.

When you visit one of those sites, there is a good chance that there are items on the side columns that are connected to their business.  One of these days, there is a likelihood that you will click one of those just to see what it is that they do.  This is known as attraction marketing.

Whatever you do, don’t click on the monkey!

For some, blogging is a way to organize thoughts and clear the mind.  For others, it’s to start a conversation.  Businesses need to create content to attract potential clients.

With the world economy today, your client could be half way across the world and you can’t just knock on the door.  There are so many rules around phoning and door knocking these days, you have to be creative in getting attention.  Push marketing is dead.

Become the person you want to attract and let people get to know you through your blog.  You may be reaching out to people with similar interests in order to meet like minded friends.  You may be reaching out to attract new volunteers to your organization.  Your blog is a great way for people to get to know, like and trust you.

Make it a great day!

P.S.  What am I thankful for today?  I’m thankful I have a winter coat!  I’m thankful for open minded people.  I’m thankful for new opportunities to learn.

Blogging, how important is it for your business?

Blogging with Blogger Builder

Blogging is critical in today’s world of attraction marketing.  Even for individuals.  Like it or not, we are always marketing ourselves in today’s economy.

How important is blogging?  Yahoo buys Tumblr!

Big news lately is that Yahoo has made an offer of over $1Billion to buy Tumblr.  There are over 75 million posts daily on Tumblr.  Yahoo has determined that having a blogging option is critical to their business and rather than try to create something new, Yahoo is trying to buy a successful blogging business to add to their business model.  I’m inclined to believe that $1Billion is a strong acknowledgement that blogging is important.

Make yourself attractive.

The purpose to blogging is to make yourself attractive.  No, not better looking.  Well, maybe in a sense.

People no longer purchase a product just because it fills a need.  These days, there are so many similar products to meet most needs, that we are looking for something that makes me want to buy from you.  What makes you different and how do I know that?  So many are shopping online now that we often don’t get to meet our customers before they have actually made a decision.  Simon Sinek does a great discussion about people needing to understand why you do what you do and then needing to trust you.

Blogging is an important part of any marketing strategy.  This is where you can tell people why you do what you do and give them a chance to understand who you are.  Done effectively, blogging helps to build “like, know and trust” with your prospects and clients.  Find yourself a good suite of tools that includes a blogging platform and get your message out there!

Be careful what you give away!

Blogging platforms are not all created equal.  When you look at services like Tumblr, Blogspot and others, you will find that there are reasons their services are “free”.  The true cost is your information.  Using outside services means they have all of your data and control what you see.  When you have your own domain with your own blogging software, you have full control.  Just look at the news these days about changes with Youtube for example.  If you had your own hosting, video production and so on, you won’t ever be subject to the whims of others.

Blogging is important.  Make sure you retain full control over your material and get your message out there!

Make it a great day,

Relationships and Network Marketing

Developing new personal relationships is important, or any business relationships for that matter! Building relationships expands your network for your marketing efforts.

One of the most sincere forms of respect-web

Relationships are critical in all areas of our lives. With:

  • spouses or significant others.
  • our children.
  • co-workers and bosses in the workplace.
  • our partners in business.

Network marketing is all about relationships with the people we come into contact.  We are tired of being a number in the standard marketing world.  Everything is targeted to specific demographics, colour, race etc.  In network marketing, we are making a choice to deal with people we know, like and trust.  First, there is a relationship and then we consider the product or service.

Make new friends. We have all heard of the three foot rule.  When someone is standing within three feet of you, start a conversation.  Learn about the person you are speaking with.  If, and only if, there is a clear need for your product or service, do you even mention your business.  “You know, I may be able to help you with that….” and then suggest that you meet discuss how you can help.  Then, let it go.  Focus on making the connection, don’t sell!  Make yourself attractive so that they will want to spend more time with you.

Attend networking and social events.  Make friends without expectation but don’t be afraid to offer assistance when there is a clear and specific need that you can help with.  Focus on the relationship, not the sale.  You might even want to try your hand at blogging or webinars to give people a chance to get to know, like and trust you!

Network marketing is like dating.  The more you put yourself out there, the more likely you will find a match.  This also means you will face a lot of rejection before you find your successes.  In order to get a date, you will ask at least 10 people out.  That’s why most of us have a hard time finding dates, let alone a life partner.  We won’t do the ask.  Ask and thou shalt receive!  Even the bible says so.

Now it’s time to get out there and ask for a “date”.  Make new friends and then help them.  Don’t sell to them.

Make it a great day,

P.S.  What am I thankful for today?  I’m thankful for new friends.  I’m thankful for opportunity.  I’m thankful for each new day.
